Are you coming to GDC next week? In addition to all of the awesome panels and parties, be sure to check out the best that San Francisco has to offer. Here are a few of our staff?s favorite spots.
Cori: Head to the Ferry Building for an afternoon picnic. I like to get a Salumi Cone from Boccalone, a semi-soft sheep?s milk cheese from Cowgirl Creamery, and a warm baguette from ACME bread company.
Sean: Escape from downtown for the best dim sum in the city at Shanghai Dumpling King. I always order the pea sprouts, Shanghai noodles, and Shanghai dumplings. Be warned, it?s cash only.
Mark: Try the artisan cocktails at a classic saloon or speakeasy, then take an Uber cab back to your hotel.
Sohail: It sounds like a tourist trap, but you have to see Alcatraz. They have an amazing audio tour with interviews from the actual guards and prisoners. Plus it has an amazing view of the city! (Don?t go on Tuesday- it?s supposed to rain.)
Claire: Embrace the hippie vibe of the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. Grab cask beers at Magnolia and check out all of the vintage clothing stores. Deadheads, make the pilgrimage to 710 Ashbury.
Pepe: Buy a Prosciutto Pie at Pizzeria Delfina and enjoy this gourmet treasure under the sun at Dolores Park. Finish it off with a one-of-a-kind ice cream creation from BiRite Creamery while you hobnob with the local hipsters.
Maria: Have the delicious Huevos Rancheros at Circa in the Marina, then take a long walk on Crissy Field. Fly a kite while enjoying the majestic views of the SF Bay and Golden Gate Bridge!
Nate: Catch a film in the beautiful Castro Theatre. They have an organist for maximum ole-timey goodness and if you?re lucky, you?ll catch a sing-along showing of The Lion King.
Kenneth: Fuel up before the conference at one of our many artisan coffee shops. Favorites include Philz Coffee, Blue Bottle Coffee Co., Ritual Coffee Roasters, or Four Barrel Coffee. For lunch, get the best burger in town at Pearl’s?or delicious ramen at?Katana-ya.
Flavien: Grab a beer and do the brewery tour at one of the West Coast?s oldest breweries - Anchor Brewing Company. Their Potrero Hill location helped spawn the craft beer movement.
Jamie: On Wednesday, between 11 and 2pm, head over to 5th and Minna streets for Off the Grid, a sampling of the city?s best food trucks. ?You may see a few members of the Chartboost team in line for the Bacon Bacon truck:)
Ed: Set up camp outside the Apple Store on Market street in preparation for the ?iPad 3? launch!
Tiffany: Try a local favorite, San Tung, for their infamous Dried Fried Chicken. Sweet and spicy, it ain?t no thing but a Chicken Wing!
Zach: Embrace your inner National Geographic Photographer in Golden Gate Park as you get to know our local Bison population.?
And lastly, of course, drop by Chartboost on Thursday for drinks and snacks at our happy hour! You can meet the team and learn more about what Chartboost has to offer. If you?re interested, please RSVP. We look forward to seeing you there!
